Marawa PokerSchool

pokerschool professor photoWelcome to the Marawa Pokerschool! Like with most things in life, a good education is important. Poker is no different and that’s why want to give you a sound education. For many people, poker is a game of chance. For the experts this is not the case. Of course there is the luck factor, but if you are in there for the long term you know that everyone roughly get the same hands dealt when you have a large enough sample. So don’t get upset if you get bad cards or bad beats time after time. Just know that when you play your hands right, the bad luck evens out and the only important thing is you play the best you can.

That being said, let’s start at the beginning with our school. You might or might not know the rules of the game. For those of you that do not, head straight over to poker rules section.

>>To the Poker Rules

When you know the rules, it’s time to really learn how to play the game. You need to know about odds, outs and which hands to play and not to play. We wrote an article with basic strategyadvice. After reading you will have a basic understanding of some important concepts. Hopefully you will already begin to see what the skill factor in poker is, and why people with a good strategy have a big advantage over ‘noobs’.

>>Learn the basics

Having the basics covered we are not there yet with our pokerschool education. Practice, practice practice is the next step. It’s not necessary to invest your own hard-earned money yet. There are excellent sources to play poker for free. Sure, you can practice your skills at the play money tables on Pokerstars or on Zynga but our method would be to play for real money while not investing one cent of your own money. Huh?.. you might think now. It is really possible though and actually there are several ways to do this.

First of all you can enter the so called ‘freerolls’. In these free poker tournaments there is real money to win. Many freerolls have a huge number of contestants but hey, it’s free money so what would you expect?! The advantage of playing freerolls is people play a bit more serious than in play money games. This gives you a better feel for the game than if you would play against people that just shove in all their chips every hand.
The second option is to use a so called ‘no deposit bonus’. Sometimes, a poker room hands a out a poker bonus without asking you to make a deposit. A great opportunity to play real money games and build your bankroll. The popular room 888Poker has a $8 no deposit bonus at the moment. It might not be much but if you play carefully and don’t bet all your money in our tournament, you might be able to jumpstart your poker career. Learn more about the 888 no deposit bonus over at our friends of MPC Poker or:

We would like to end our poker school tutorial with some general tips. When playing poker it’s important to really focus on the game and making the right decisions instead of focusing on the money. Beginners lot of time fall for the trap of thinking in money terms like ‘if I call this hand and lose this will cost me more than a whole meal!’ or similar thoughts. Try to really focus on making the right decisions and how you can improve your game. The best poker players don’t give up easily after a few bad beats. Know that you can be unlucky in the short term and make sure you are getting better and better. Skill will overcome luck in the long term!

We hope you enjoyed our pokerschool education. Browse around the site for more articles on strategy and information on the best bonuses if you are ready for some real money poker.
